Class collections in retail WoW — class mounts, artifact appearances and the Mage Tower

Most of what a class can collect only for itself comes from Legion: a class hall mount, an artifact weapon per spec with 24 looks each, and the Mage Tower. Almost all of it is still obtainable, and nearly all of it can be done alone at today’s level. It is slow, though, and the steps are spread across a decade of guides. Each class page lists every piece, and each spec’s artifact has its own page with the game’s own unlock text, the steps to its hidden appearance and ticks.

Artifact appearances

Every spec’s artifact has six appearance sets of four tints. The client holds 870 in all: 24 for each of the 36 specs, plus three extra forms each for Feral and Guardian. The set names follow the achievements that track them:

An unlocked appearance counts for every character of that class on the account. The Challenge set is the only one Blizzard removed; the Mage Tower that came back in 2021 gives other rewards. Appearances unlocked in Legion Remix carried over to the rest of the account, Blizzard said when the event ran, but Remix’s cheaper unlock methods ended with it on 19 January 2026.

Artifact Knowledge. Older guides list an Artifact Knowledge level for some hidden appearances. Players have reported since Shadowlands that it no longer applies, and Blizzard has not said either way. The class pages leave it out.

Transmog. Artifact looks have been wearable in any spec of their class since 2020. Midnight’s new wardrobe dropped the separate artifact category and files them under their weapon type. Blizzard’s 12.2.5 change lifts armour-type limits but keeps weapon limits and class-restricted gear such as tier sets; it has not said whether artifact looks count as class-restricted.

Legion class mounts

Twelve classes have one; Evoker, which arrived after Legion, has none. The route is the same for every class: finish the class hall campaign, do “A Hero’s Weapon” and “Champions of Legionfall” on the Broken Shore, and a questline for the mount follows. Once one character has it, every character of the class can ride it.

Sources disagree on Breaching the Tomb, the Broken Shore achievement older guides make a requirement. Wowhead’s guide still lists it; players on the Blizzard forums say it only needs doing once per account; a Wowhead commenter says it only unlocks the extra recolours. Blizzard has not answered. Each class page has the route as a checklist.

Legion Remix gave every class a Felscorned recolour. They are no longer obtainable, and the class pages list them as retired.

The Mage Tower

The Timewalking Mage Tower has been open all year since 29 March 2022, not only on Legion Timewalking weeks. It has seven solo challenges, and each spec fights one of them. Clearing any challenge on a class gives that class’s Tomb of Sargeras set in a new colour; Guardian druids also get a Fel Werebear form. Clearing all seven — “A Tour of Towers” — gives the Soaring Spelltome mount, and no class can do that alone. Each class page shows which challenge each of its specs takes.

Class hall decor

Patch 11.2.7 added housing decor for Legion class hall work. The campaign achievements count campaigns finished years ago. A second achievement per class, for collecting any one hidden appearance, needs a log-in on the character that did it.
