Fishing collectibles in retail WoW — turtles, sea rays, water striders and more

Fishing is the quiet collector’s profession. Its rewards are rare catches, old reputations with fishermen, and a steady trickle of new mounts in every expansion — including two in Midnight. Nothing here needs a group, and most of it can be done while half-watching something else.

The mounts

• Sea Turtle: a very rare catch while fishing, also found in shipwreck debris around Darkmoon Island and from the cave-dwellers at a level 3 garrison Fishing Shack.
• Riding Turtle: fished from a Hyper-Compressed Ocean, from the garrison Fishing Shack, or bought on the Trading Post.
• Great Sea Ray: fished from the open ocean around Kul Tiras and Zandalar, or from a Hyper-Compressed Ocean.
• Azure Water Strider: Nat Pagle in Krasarang Wilds, at Exalted with The Anglers.
• Crimson Water Strider: Nat Pagle at your garrison Fishing Shack, at Best Friend, for 100 Nat’s Lucky Coins.
• Brinedeep Bottom-Feeder: Conjurer Margoss in Dalaran, at Best Friend, for 100 Drowned Mana.
• Kah, Legend of the Deep: the achievement The Derby Dash — catch all twenty Algari fish during the Hallowfall Fishing Derby’s timed buff.
• Nether-Swept Drake (Midnight): hatches seven days after you fish up a rare Nether-Warped Egg in Voidstorm.
• Sea-Dwelling Isle Serpent (Midnight 12.1): Captain Tokka’s top reputation rank on the Coiled Isle, for 2,500 Coiled Filaments.
• Otto: the Dragon Isles’ secret otter — see Otto.

The pets

• Tiny Goldfish from Nat Pagle in Krasarang, and Sea Calf and Land Shark from Nat at the garrison.
• Magical Crawdad: one of the wishes granted by Mr. Pinchy, a very rare catch from Highland Mixed Schools in Terokkar Forest.
• Sea Pony: fished around Darkmoon Island while the Faire is in town.
• Sting Ray Pup from Conjurer Margoss, and Ghost Shark from Ilyssia of the Waters.

The toys, and the Legion fisherfriends

Legion’s six fisherfriends — Ilyssia of the Waters in Azsuna, Keeper Raynae in Val’sharah, Akule Riverhorn in Highmountain, Corbyn in Stormheim, Sha’leth in Suramar and Impus on the Broken Shore — each sell toys as your friendship grows, most of them Crates of Bobbers. One of them is out each day; fish near them for the reputation item. Becoming best friends with all six is Fisherfriend of the Isles, account-wide since The War Within.

• Hyper-Compressed Ocean: the reward for Secret Fish and Where to Find Them. It makes a fishing pool for fifteen minutes, once an hour, and that pool can yield the Great Sea Ray, Riding Turtle and Sea Turtle — the best mount farm in fishing.
• Nat’s Fishing Chair: Nat Pagle at the garrison, at Best Friend.
• Reusable Oversized Bobber: catch a hundred fish with the Oversized Bobber.
• Titanium Seal of Dalaran: The Coin Master, for fishing every coin out of the Dalaran fountain.
• Gold Starfish (Midnight 12.1): Navigator Otoola at Tokka’s Landing on the Coiled Isle.
