Cookies and local storage
Last updated 21 September 2026
Strictly necessary
None. This site is static pages. It does not need a cookie to work, and it does not set one to remember who you are, because it never knows who you are.
Things stored on your device, not sent to us
Two things use your browser's local storage. Neither is a cookie, neither is transmitted anywhere, and neither can be read by us:
- Game saves. Progress in Game Lab games is written to local storage on your device. Clearing site data deletes it and it cannot be recovered.
- Your cookie choice. If you answer the consent question, the answer is stored locally — one key, holding the word "granted" or "denied" — so you are not asked again. That is the only thing the banner stores, and it is not sent anywhere.
Analytics cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies (typically _ga and_ga_*) to count visits and distinguish one browser from another. They expire after up to two years.
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland these are set only after you accept. Before you answer, and forever if you decline, the Google Analytics script is not loaded at all — that is not a case of loading it and asking afterwards.
Everywhere else the script starts when you arrive and the notice offers you an off switch. Turning it off sets Google's own opt-out flag, stops all further collection, and deletes the_ga cookies from your browser. What it cannot do is recall the one pageview already recorded before you clicked — nothing can, and a policy that claimed otherwise would be worth less than this one.
Which of the two applies to you is decided in your browser from the timezone it reports, and that is the only thing it is used for. It is not sent anywhere and not stored. All of Europe is treated as the stricter case, so the error runs toward asking people who did not need asking.
Grow by Mediavine
Grow adds sharing and saving controls to pages. It runs on every page and sets its own cookies as soon as it loads, before you have been asked anything. Mediavine verify the install by looking for their code in the page, so there is no version of this that waits.
If you sign up for a Grow account it saves pages across every site running Grow. That account belongs to Mediavine, not to us — we cannot see it and are not told about it.
Cookie names and lifetimes are Mediavine's and can change without us knowing, so rather than list them and go stale, the authoritative description is their own: mediavine.com/privacy-policy. A tracker blocker stops it and breaks nothing here.
Advertising cookies
The advertising here is Google AdSense. It sets cookies on Google's own domains to measure which adverts were shown, to limit how often you see the same one, and — subject to your consent and where you are — to choose what you see. Google describe what they collect and why in their own words: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Being precise about what waits and what does not, because the distinction is easy to blur and worth not blurring: the AdSense library loads on every page for everyone, including before you answer the prompt. It has to — Google verify the site by looking for that code in the page, and a version that hid until you consented verified as missing and could not run at all.
What does wait is the advertising itself. Where consent is required — the EEA, the UK and Switzerland — no ad is requested until you accept, using Google's own switch for that purpose. Decline and requests stop again and anything later is non-personalised. The honest remainder: loading the library is itself a request to Google and may set cookies of its own before any ad is asked for, and unlike analytics this site cannot delete those afterwards, because they live on Google's domains where a page here cannot reach them. A tracker blocker stops the whole thing and breaks nothing here.
Changing your mind
This clears your stored answer and asks again. It used to sit inside the analytics section, which meant it disappeared whenever analytics was switched off — while a consent decision that still governed something else stayed stored and unreachable.
Blocking everything anyway
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies and clear local storage, and nothing on this site will break if you do — the pages are static and the games will simply start fresh. If you use an ad blocker or tracker blocker, this site is not going to fight it.
