Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade
The Nine Dresses and Other Choices
Updated 2026-10-09
Full spoilers.
In Chapter 9, getting into Don Corneo’s mansion means Cloud, Tifa and Aerith all end up in Wall Market finery, and the audition scene shows off whatever each of them is wearing. There are three outfits per character, nine in all, and one per character is locked in on each pass.
The catch is that the three are decided in three different chapters. Tifa’s is set in Chapter 3, Aerith’s in Chapter 8, Cloud’s in Chapter 9. By the time you see the result, two of the three were settled hours ago.
An outfit counts once you finish Chapter 9 with it. Your collection shows in the Play Log under System in the main menu.
Tifa — Chapter 3
Do the Chapter 3 side quests and a Discovery opens: Alone at Last. Go and talk to Tifa, and at one point she asks what she should wear.
| Your answer | Her outfit |
|---|---|
| Something mature — or skip the scene entirely | Blue dress, the default |
| Something sporty | Patterned cheongsam-style dress in leopard print |
| Something exotic | Black dress with a red bow in her hair |
Skipping the side quests, or not going to see her, gives you the blue dress.
Aerith — Chapter 8
Her outfit follows how many of Chapter 8’s six side quests you finish.
| Chapter 8 quests done | Her outfit |
|---|---|
| 0–2 | Simple pink dress |
| 3–5 | Longer, more elaborate pink dress |
| All 6 | Long red dress |
The six: The Mysterious Moogle Merchant, Weapons on a Rampage, Paying Respects, Kids on Patrol, A Verified Hero and The Angel of the Slums.
Cloud — Chapter 9
Chapter 9 has five side quests. Burning Thighs, the squats, is always open. The other four come in two pairs, and the chapter steers you into one pair through a string of small choices. Which pair you finish picks Cloud’s outfit.
| Branch | Quests | Cloud’s outfit |
|---|---|---|
| Chocobo Sam | The Party Never Stops, A Dynamite Body | Blue-purple and black dress |
| Madam M | The Price of Thievery, Shears’ Counterattack | White dress |
| Neither pair finished | — | Plain black dress |
The choices that lean you toward Chocobo Sam:
- Tell Sam that Madam M is “in great shape”.
- Turn down the inn.
- Watch Johnny and answer yes.
- Accept Sam’s coin toss.
- Take the 100-gil Poor Man’s Course at Madam M’s.
- Say something positive about Aerith’s outfit.
- Have a drink with Johnny at the Colosseum.
For Madam M, give the opposite answers throughout, including the 3,000-gil Luxury Course.
Getting all nine
The fastest route is three passes. Each pass needs Chapter 3, Chapter 8 and Chapter 9 finished in that order, because a new choice only sticks once its own chapter is finished — replaying Chapter 3 changes what Tifa wears the next time you finish Chapter 9, not before.
| Pass | Tifa (Ch 3) | Aerith (Ch 8) | Cloud (Ch 9) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sporty — all quests, then “Alone at Last” | All 6 quests | Chocobo Sam branch |
| 2 | Skip “Alone at Last” → mature | No quests | No Chapter 9 quests |
| 3 | Exotic | 3 quests | Madam M branch |
Pass 2 is the cheap one: you skip everything. That makes it easy to fold into your Hard-mode playthrough by skipping the Chapter 3 quests there, then finish the set with two targeted Chapter Select passes.
Trophies: Snappy Dresser (Bronze) for 3 outfits, which every player earns by finishing Chapter 9 once, and Dressed to the Nines (Silver) for all nine.
The Chapter 14 night visit
Chapter 14 opens at night at Aerith’s house. Cloud is up, someone else can’t sleep, and the two of them talk. Who it is — Tifa, Aerith or Barret — depends on a hidden affinity built from your choices through the earlier chapters.
| Chapter | What raises whom |
|---|---|
| 2 | Asking Aerith “How much?” for her flower → Aerith |
| 3 | Ordering “something hard” from Tifa at the bar; doing all the Chapter 3 side quests and “Alone at Last” → Tifa |
| 8 | Doing all six side quests and “The Language of the Flowers” → Aerith |
| 9 | Telling Sam that Madam M is “in great shape” → Tifa. At Madam M’s, “It’s alright” or “Looks comfortable” about Aerith’s outfit raises Aerith; “Does it matter what I think?” lowers her |
| 10 | Whichever of Tifa or Aerith you help up first in the sewers |
Barret is what you get by being cool toward both women: skip the Chapter 3 and Chapter 8 side quests and keep your answers cool.
No trophy is tied to the scene.
Other choice-driven content
The Chapter 9 branch is the biggest choice in the game in practical terms. It decides Cloud’s outfit, which two of the four exclusive quests you can finish, and therefore:
- Best in the Business (all 26 side quests) needs a second Chapter 9 pass on the other branch.
- The Johnny Experience needs The Party Never Stops on the Sam branch, plus the Vagabond Johnny Discovery in Chapter 9 and returning Johnny’s wallet after Tomboy Bandit in Chapter 14.
- On Hard, the Madam M branch holds two of Cloud’s manuscripts and the Sam branch one.
The Honeybee Inn dance in Chapter 9 is scored. Ten “Great”s in practice gives the disc Let the Battles Begin! -REMAKE-; twenty or more in the performance gives Andrea’s Earrings and the Dancing Queen trophy. The performance is one attempt — make a manual save before it.
What Chapter Select gives back
After the credits, Chapter Select replays any chapter with your current level and gear. Every outfit, both Chapter 9 branches, the dance, and every quest that hangs off a choice can be had this way. Finishing a replayed chapter is what makes a new choice count.
Game Notes
The outfit system is a lovely piece of design hidden behind a joke. It quietly rewards three different play styles — the completionist who does every quest, the player who rushes, and the one who picks an employer and commits — and reflects each back to you in the one scene where everyone is paying attention. It also means your first-run outfits are a fair portrait of how you played, which is more than most collectibles manage.
The Chapter 14 scene does the same thing with more weight. It is short, and it lands because it reads choices you made ten chapters earlier without ever having told you it was keeping score.
For collectors, the instruction is simple: do not try to engineer the perfect first run. Play the way you want, see what you get, and use Chapter Select for the rest. Every outfit is recoverable, and the three-pass plan above is three chapters at a time, not a second playthrough.
