Chromie Time: Legion
Updated 2026-09-22 · checked against Midnight 12.1
The Burning Legion comes back, and every class gets a weapon out of legend to meet it. The Legion Invasion is the campaign built most around choice: four zones, any order, and a class hall that makes each class’s run a little different.
How it starts
Legion: The Legion Returns comes from Chromie.
- Alliance hand it to Recruiter Lee at Stormwind Harbor.
- Horde hand it to Holgar Stormaxe at the Dranosh’ar Blockade.
That leads into To Be Prepared and the Broken Shore scenario. If your account has done the Broken Shore before, the dialogue option “I’ve heard this tale before…” skips it and sends you straight to Dalaran.
After the intro, your class hall and artifact weapon unlock, and you need the class hall before the zone quests. Two classes are different:
- Demon Hunters take their own route in through Mardum and the Vault of the Wardens.
- Evokers have no artifact weapon and no class hall.
Where it takes you
The four Broken Isles zones, in any order, all scaled to you:
- Azsuna
- Val’sharah
- Highmountain
- Stormheim
Suramar comes after. It is still marked as a “level 45” zone, and whether that gate means anything since the Midnight level changes is unconfirmed.
Dungeons you can queue for
While you are in the campaign, the group finder offers this expansion’s dungeons. Raids and Mythic dungeons are off limits until you leave Chromie Time, and some Heroics refuse entry below a set level.
| Instance | Type |
|---|---|
| Assault on Violet Hold | Dungeon |
| Black Rook Hold | Dungeon |
| Cathedral of Eternal Night | Dungeon |
| Court of Stars | Dungeon |
| Darkheart Thicket | Dungeon |
| Eye of Azshara | Dungeon |
| Halls of Valor | Dungeon |
| Maw of Souls | Dungeon |
| Neltharion's Lair | Dungeon |
| Return to Karazhan | Dungeon |
| Seat of the Triumvirate | Dungeon |
| The Arcway | Dungeon |
| Vault of the Wardens | Dungeon |
| The Emerald Nightmare | Raid |
| Trial of Valor | Raid |
| The Nighthold | Raid |
| Tomb of Sargeras | Raid |
| Antorus, the Burning Throne | Raid |
In 2021 a Blizzard representative said The Arcway and Court of Stars open in this campaign from level 45 to 50. Those were pre-squish numbers, and the current gate is unconfirmed.
What carries across your account
- The Dalaran Hearthstone is a toy since 10.1.5, from In the Blink of an Eye.
- Balance of Power artifact colours can be earned on any character since 10.0.7.
- Legion reputations go warband-wide in patch 12.1.5. That is on the test realm, not live in 12.1.
- Nightborne and Highmountain Tauren no longer need Suramar or Highmountain questing to unlock.
What this campaign puts in reach
Counting…
Counts are a floor, not a total. The expansion is not recorded for every collectible, and many source lines name a boss without a zone. "Missing" uses what you have ticked on the mounts, pets and toys pages, in this browser.
Where the sources disagree
- How far Chromie Time goes. Everyone agrees you can start a campaign up to about level 68–69. Whether you then stay scaled to 80 or are moved on at 70 is disputed: the wiki says 80, two levelling guides say 70, and there is no Blizzard patch note either way.
- Which Legion reputations go warband-wide. Blizzard Watch lists 10. Icy Veins lists 12, adding Chromie and Fisherfriends of the Isles. Neither says whether standings merge at the highest level or combine.
