2,180 pets, sorted by how you get them. The largest group is Pet Battle, at 630: wild pets you capture yourself in the open world. They are the cheapest part of the collection and the most tedious, because rare-quality spawns are the ones worth keeping.

Drops are 555 and vendors 342.

What is not on this list. The game also holds about 800 pet records that the pet journal never shows: the teams that tamers and pet battle world quests field against you (Mr. Pointy, CK-9 Micro-Oppression Unit, Corrupted Blood of Argus), hidden duplicates of real pets, and unreleased leftovers. None of them can be yours, so none of them are counted here. No source listed is down to 26: pets the journal lists without saying where they come from.

Each Where line is the source text the pet journal shows for that pet.

Expansion comes from the item that teaches it where the game records one, and from the zone or instance it drops in where it does not. Wild pets are the exception: pet battles, and every wild pet in the older zones, arrived with Mists of Pandaria, so a pet caught only in pre-Mists zones is dated to Mists, not to the zone. It is left blank when neither settles it: old-world capitals, zones that exist in two expansions (Uldum, Nagrand, Dalaran), and anything sold from a shop, a card or the Trading Post, where the vendor’s location says nothing about when it was added.

Search by name, boss, vendor or zone, pick a zone from the list, or sort vendor items by price. Tick each pet you own: the list keeps count per source, Missing shows only what you still need, and a filtered view’s address can be bookmarked or shared. Ticks are saved in this browser only.
