The nine new dungeons in WoW Forever
Updated 2026-09-17 · checked against Beta build 1.60.1.69893

Nine of them, running from 13 to 60, and — unlike almost everything else in Forever — they are spread across the levelling curve rather than parked at the top. Four sit below level 35.
The list
| Dungeon | Where | Levels | What it is |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hall of Thanes | Beneath Ironforge | 13–18 | Dwarven burial chamber, desecrated by Dark Iron. Undead and ghosts. Alliance-side |
| Ruins of Lordaeron | Tirisfal Glades | 15–20 | Horde-side. A necromancer at the end |
| Wetlands Excavation Site | Wetlands | 24–29 | Explorer’s League dig |
| City of Dalaran | Alterac Mountains | 28–33 | Arcane gone haywire, demonic influence. Doubles as a vendor area |
| The Drowned City | Stranglethorn Vale | 35–40 | Sunken troll city, naga. The BlizzCon demo dungeon |
| Krol’dok Stronghold | Riverglades | 40–45 or 40–55 | Ogres, and Twilight’s Hammer whispering about Old Gods |
| Alcaz Island Prison | Dustwallow Marsh | 48–53 | Defias inmates and naga |
| Blackmaw Hold | Azshara | 55–60 | Furbolg city behind Azshara’s gate, under corruption |
| Shaper’s Terrace | Un’Goro Crater | 58–60 | Titan facility |
Where the published lists disagree, and which one is wrong
Four of these have conflicting zones across outlets. Three of the four are not disagreements at all — they are the same place named at different scale — and one is an error that will propagate if nobody says so.
- Ruins of Lordaeron appears as “Lordaeron”, “Undercity” and “Tirisfal Glades”. Same location: the ruins stand in Tirisfal Glades with Undercity underneath them. Tirisfal Glades is the zone you travel to.
- Alcaz Island Prison appears as “Alcaz Island” and “Dustwallow Marsh”. The island sits off the Dustwallow coast. Both are right.
- City of Dalaran appears as “Dalaran”, “Alterac Mountains” and — in one outlet — “Alterac Valley”. That last one is wrong. Vanilla Dalaran sits under its dome in the Alterac Mountains; Alterac Valley is the 51+ battleground and a different place. Do not plan a route on it.
- Krol’dok Stronghold is the one real conflict: 40–55 in two places, 40–45 in a third. Riverglades is a 35–45 zone, which argues for 40–45, but nobody has reconciled it and we are not picking.
The two things that change how you actually play them
There is no group finder and there are no meeting stones. The LFG interface is the one Classic already has — it organises a group, it does not form one and it does not teleport anybody. Meeting stones did not summon in vanilla and they do not summon here. The only summon in the game is a Warlock’s ritual. You walk to the door.
Put that next to the rest of Forever’s structure and the shape is unusual: no realms, so the population you are drawing from is enormous, but no cross-ruleset grouping and no automated matching, so you still assemble by hand and then travel. Big pool, manual process.
Dungeon appearances unlock for the whole group. Eligible Uncommon and Rare bind-on-pickup dungeon drops grant their appearance to every eligible looter the moment the item drops — not only to whoever wins it. Epic raid appearances go solely to the player who receives and binds it.
That asymmetry is deliberate and nobody is discussing it. It means a dungeon run pays every person in the group a collection reward regardless of loot luck, which quietly removes the worst social friction in five-mans. Transmog itself is opt-in at the account level.
Every dungeon drop was re-examined — including the old ones
Blizzard’s line is about itemisation across the board, not just the nine new dungeons:
Every dungeon drop has been re-examined, memorable items remain memorable, less exciting items have been adjusted, and hundreds of new drops have been added.
Two parts of that matter more than the headline. Drops now carry effects tied to particular environments or creature types — a category vanilla barely had. And the stated aim includes spell damage and healing options at earlier levels, which addresses one of vanilla’s genuine design holes: a low-level caster in 2005 had almost nothing to want from a dungeon.
None of that has been quantified. No item, no effect, no dungeon.
The camping Blueprints live here
Advanced campsite objects are not bought or trained — they come from Blueprint recipes that drop from specific dungeon bosses. Blizzard said that sentence and stopped. No dungeon named, no boss named, no drop rate.
That makes this page the hard dependency for Camping and Professions: their upgrade paths cannot be written until the drop table is known, and it is the single highest-value thing still missing from this vertical. Item drops are server-side in Classic-lineage clients, so it may not be datamineable at all — it may need running the four in-range dungeons and writing down what falls out.
Two smaller things worth knowing
The two lowest dungeons are faction-paired, not faction-locked. Hall of Thanes is Alliance-side under Ironforge at 13–18, Ruins of Lordaeron is Horde-side in Tirisfal at 15–20 — and Alliance are reported to be able to reach Lordaeron with safe passage. Expect “faction-locked” to get repeated anyway.
Blackmaw Hold’s tunnels run toward the Barrow Deeps. A 55–60 dungeon physically connected to one of the two launch raids. If that connection is more than flavour it is the first dungeon-to-raid geography Classic has had.
Twenty-six bosses now have names
The beta client holds the encounter journal for five of the nine: City of Dalaran (9 bosses), Ruins of Lordaeron (7), The Hall of Thanes (4), Excavation Site: Wetlands (4), and Half-Pint Tavern (2) — that last one a dungeon Blizzard never announced.
Every name, in journal order, with what the ordering does and does not tell you, is on Every new dungeon boss we can name.
The other four carry no encounter rows, which is what a level 30 beta cap looks like rather than a cancellation — the five with data are the ones at or near the cap.
What nobody knows yet
- Boss counts for the remaining four dungeons, and abilities, mechanics or loot for any of the twenty-six we can name.
- Group size. Five is assumed everywhere and stated nowhere.
- Attunements or keys for anything, including the two 55–60 dungeons.
- Which bosses drop which camping Blueprints.
- Krol’dok Stronghold’s level range, per above.
- Whether existing dungeons changed beyond loot — layouts, difficulty, tuning. The itemisation line covers drops and says nothing about the rest.
- How you reach Riverglades’ dungeon. The zone is entered by boat from Powderfuse Port, which makes Krol’dok the most travel-expensive dungeon on the list if there is no closer route.
- Reputation. Nothing on dungeon factions, rep gear, or whether the old grinds were touched.
- Whether the City of Dalaran is fully instanced. It is described as serving as a vendor area as well as a dungeon, and those are usually different kinds of space.
Beta caps at level 30, so four of the nine come into range — Hall of Thanes (13–18), Ruins of Lordaeron (15–20), the Wetlands Excavation Site (24–29) and the bottom two levels of the City of Dalaran (28–33). That is enough to answer the group-size question, the Blueprint question and the itemisation question without ever seeing the back half of the list.
