Zones in WoW Forever

Updated 2026-09-17 · checked against Beta build 1.60.1.69893

The levelling change is the part of Forever that gets undersold. Over 1,000 new quests, spread across every bracket rather than stacked at sixty, plus extra quests and explorable areas layered onto the existing 1–60 zones. This is not vanilla with an endgame bolted on.

The new zones

Zone Levels What it is
Zephras Isle 1–12 The Skyborne starting zone. Gated behind the paid race unlock
Shen’dralas ~30–50 Night elf lore, tied to Dire Maul, Razorfen Downs and Maraudon
Riverglades 35–45 Contested, 150+ quests, reached by boat from Powderfuse Port
Mount Hyjal 60 Endgame zone, after Archimonde’s defeat

“Three or four new zones” has a boring answer

Sources disagree on the count, and the disagreement is not about content — it is about the word new.

Mount Hyjal is a revamp, not a new zone. It has existed on the map since 2004 without being playable. Wowhead lists it as updated; the announcement coverage that says three is counting zones built from nothing, and the coverage that says four is counting zones you can now go to. Both are describing the same game.

We list four, because from a player’s side four places open up.

Two world maps in the client that nobody mentioned

Comparing the beta client’s map table against Classic Era, three world maps are new to Forever beyond Zephras Isle:

  • Dalaran City — a world map, separate from the City of Dalaran dungeon. The dungeon was announced; a walkable Dalaran was not.
  • Eastern Kingdoms Preserved — a second Eastern Kingdoms. The name suggests an unchanged copy of the old continent, which would be a significant answer to the question of whether Forever’s renderer and terrain changes are escapable. See the renderer.
  • Warsong Gulch (Winter) — a seasonal variant of the battleground.

Treat these as observations, not features. A map existing in a build is not a promise it ships, and the Forever client is built on a modern codebase that carries plenty it never uses. What makes these three different from that category is that they are new against Classic Era and against the Mists Classic branch, and their map IDs sit in the range Forever’s own content occupies. That is suggestive. It is not an announcement.

The old world changed too

Existing zones get additional quests and explorable areas. Separately, the lighting and terrain rework touches the whole world — Blizzard’s own showcase material covers Ashenvale, Darkshore, Darnassus, Orgrimmar, Tirisfal Glades, with panel demonstrations in Darkshire, Raven Hill Cemetery, Durotar and Mulgore and side-by-sides of Ashenvale and Theramore.

That list is what Blizzard chose to show, not a published revamp list. Nine locations across three sources; the detail is on the renderer.

What nobody knows yet

  • Riverglades’ level range, three ways. Wowhead says 35–45; other coverage says 40–45; the dungeon inside it is listed 40–55 by two outlets. Nobody has reconciled it.
  • Shen’dralas’ actual bracket. “~30–50” is a wide guess from its dungeon connections, not a published number.
  • Whether Dalaran City and Eastern Kingdoms Preserved are live content, dev scaffolding, or something else entirely.
  • Skywatch. A press-kit filename names a tauren settlement, numbered adjacent to a revamped Mulgore, that appears in no coverage. Press-kit filenames carry development names — the same kit calls Blackmaw Hold “Timbermaw Hold” — so this is a thread to pull, not a location.
  • How the 1,000 quests distribute across zones and brackets.

Beta caps at level 30, so of the four new zones only Zephras Isle is fully reachable, and the old-world revamp can only be checked in the low zones — Durotar, Tirisfal Glades, Darkshore and the Wetlands. Two of those are on Blizzard’s showcase list, which is convenient.
