Every map in the beta client that Classic Era does not have

Updated 2026-09-18 · checked against Beta build 1.60.1.69893

The client keeps a table of every map it can load: continents, dungeons, battlegrounds, arenas, and whatever the developers were working in last week. Comparing that table between the Forever beta and Classic Era gives a complete list of what has been added — and it is one of the few places where “complete” is an honest word, because the client cannot have a map it does not list.

Six of the fourteen are content Blizzard has announced. Seven are not. One is called “nothing to see here”.

That last one is the whole reason this page is written the way it is.

What a map row is worth

A name in a client is not a feature. This project has already been caught by the softer version of that: the press kit shipped a dungeon screenshot filed under Timbermaw Hold, a name that appears in no announcement, and it turned out to be Blackmaw Hold under the name it was built with. Roughly half that kit is stamped with the internal codename the whole game was developed under.

A map row is stronger evidence than a filename — it is structural, the client uses it to load a place — but it is the same class of claim. So the list below separates what is corroborated from what is merely present, and the difference is in the reading, not the row:

  • A map with encounters is an instance the client can run. Half-Pint Tavern has two bosses.
  • A map in the LFG dungeon list is an instance the game intends to group people for. In this build that list holds exactly four entries — the four dungeons reachable under the level-30 cap.
  • A map with neither is a name and nothing else.

The list

Battleground

Darkspear IslandsBattleground2997The announced battleground.
Battle for GilneasunverifiedBattleground3005Sources disagree: A battleground-type map named "Battle for Gilneas" in a Classic-lineage client. Gilneas is Cataclysm content and has never existed in this lineage. The strongest single anomaly in the map table and the one most likely to be misreported. It is a map row and nothing else — no encounters, no published mention. Needs corroboration before it is written about as returning content.

Dungeon

Excavation Site: WetlandsDungeon2998The client calls it "Excavation Site: Wetlands"; every published account says "Wetlands Dig Site".
Ruins of LordaeronDungeon2999
Half-Pint TavernunverifiedDungeon3002Carries two encounters (Deathulus, Crushfist Bloodbreaker) but is absent from the client's own LFG dungeon list. See the dungeon-encounters dataset.
The Hall of ThanesDungeon3065The lowest new dungeon, 13-18.
Manor MistmantleunverifiedDungeon3109"Manor Mistmantle" — dungeon-type, no encounters, unannounced. Weaker than Half-Pint Tavern, which at least has bosses.

Raid

Hyjal CraterunverifiedRaid2995Sources disagree: The only new raid-type map in the build. The announced launch raid for the zone is "Hyjal Summit"; this row is named "Hyjal Crater".Most likely the same raid under a development name — the press kit already proved this client labels shipped content with internal names. Do not publish "Hyjal Crater" as a second raid.

World map

MapKindMap IDReading
Dalaran CityWorld map2980A world map called "Dalaran City", separate from the dungeon on 2959. The dungeon is the ruined city; this is something you can stand in. Nobody has mentioned it.
Zephras IsleWorld map2991The Skyborne starting zone, 1-12 — gated behind the paid unlock.
Warsong Gulch (Winter)unverifiedWorld map2996"Warsong Gulch (Winter)" — a seasonal variant of a vanilla battleground, mentioned nowhere. Its instance type is 0 (world), not 3 (battleground), so in THIS build it is not registered as a playable battleground map. A lead, not a feature.
Eastern Kingdoms PreservedunverifiedWorld map3021"Eastern Kingdoms Preserved" — a world map whose name suggests a kept copy of the continent, which would be a notable thing for a game promising a permanent Azeroth. No encounters, no LFG entry, no published mention.

Game data, build 1.60.1.69893, compared against 1.15.9.69722.

The four worth arguing about

Battle for Gilneas is the strongest anomaly in the table and the one most likely to be misreported. It is typed as a battleground, and Gilneas is Cataclysm content that has never existed in this lineage. A Classic-lineage client carrying a Gilneas battleground map is either a returning asset, a shared engine artefact, or something unannounced. It has no encounters and no published mention, so it stays an open question here rather than becoming a headline.

Warsong Gulch (Winter) is a seasonal variant of a vanilla battleground, and nobody has mentioned it. The detail that stops it being a finding: its instance type is world, not battleground, so in this build it is not registered as something you can queue for.

Hyjal Crater is the only new raid-type map in the client, and the announced launch raid for that zone is Hyjal Summit. Almost certainly the same raid under a development name — the Timbermaw precedent, again. Do not read it as a second raid.

Eastern Kingdoms Preserved is a world map whose name would be significant if it means what it sounds like, in a game whose entire pitch is a permanent Azeroth that does not get overwritten. It has no encounters and no other corroboration. We are not going to pretend that is more than a name.

What nobody knows yet

  • Whether any of the seven unannounced maps ship. Beta clients carry cut content, test spaces and scaffolding, and this one demonstrably does.
  • Whether Half-Pint Tavern and Manor Mistmantle are dungeons in the lineup, event spaces, or neither. Neither appears in the LFG list.
  • What the missing maps mean. Four announced dungeons have no map entry at all yet. That is consistent with a level-30 cap and tells us nothing about their state.
