The Invincible
Story mode. Written for a first playthrough and kept free of spoilers — it will not tell you what happens here, only what the game is asking of you.
The ship is yours. Before you fly anywhere, walk around inside it.
There is one chest and it is the Pisces Stellazzio
Seven screens, one chest. Our data puts it in the Core; one publisher calls it the deck and two just say “aboard”. It will not take long to find either way.
This is the twelfth coin, and it is the last one the game puts in front of you. If you have been collecting them, you are one turn-in away from finishing.
Take them all to Queen Stella in Treno. The ladder runs:
1,000 gil → Phoenix Pinion → 2,000 gil → Blood Sword → 5,000 gil → Elixir → 10,000 gil → Black Belt → 20,000 gil → Rosetta Ring → 30,000 gil → Robe of Lords → Hammer.
The thirteenth coin appears back at Quan’s Dwelling once the other twelve are handed in.
The ship lands where the others could not
Barren ground, desert, swamp, snow. The Hilda Garde III only ever managed grass. If somewhere looked unreachable earlier in the game, it is worth another look now.
Forest and mountains are still off limits.
This is when the sidequests happen
Everything optional that is still open is open now, and this is the stretch where people do it. The two longest chains are Stiltzkin — seven sets are behind you and the eighth is at Alexandria for 5,555 gil, so the Ribbon is still winnable — and Mognet, which runs through moogles scattered over the entire game.
Game Notes
The Pisces coin is a good small example of how this game hides things.
It is not hidden. It is a chest, in a room, on a ship you are standing in, with nothing else in any of the seven rooms to distract you from it. There is no puzzle and no timing and no prerequisite.
It is simply in a place nobody walks. You get an airship and you fly it — that is what an airship is for — and the interior is scenery you passed through once during a cutscene. The game does not ask you to search it, and most players never do.
Twelve of the thirteen coins are in towns and dungeons you had reason to be in. The last one is in the vehicle.
Worth doing on a first run
Nothing here needs tracking on a story run.
How this page was made

Completionist mode. Full spoilers, in play order, with every permanent loss called out before you reach it.
One chest, and it closed a decode
The Invincible holds exactly one award in seven screens: item id 315, in the Core.
We decoded ids 304–316 as the thirteen Stellazzio in zodiac order twenty areas ago, on a count-and-location match — thirteen ids, thirteen coins, one turn-in site. And we said explicitly, then and since, that this named the set and not the members. A count tells you what a block of ids is. It does not tell you which id is which.
315 is the twelfth position in zodiac order. The twelfth sign is Pisces.
Jegged: “Pisces — Invincible Airship treasure chest.”
That is one member confirmed by position, from a source that has never heard of our id table. And it is not the only one — this chapter gave us two at once, because 313 is the tenth position, Capricorn, and our data puts 313 at Daguerreo’s entrance, where Jegged puts the Capricorn coin.
So we ran the whole table
| id | Zodiac position | Our pickup room | Published location |
|---|---|---|---|
| 304 | Aries | Dali / Windmill 1F | Dali windmill ✓ |
| 305 | Taurus | Treno / Slums | Treno, behind the Item Shop stall ✓ |
| 306 | Gemini | Treno / Gate | Treno fountain ✓ |
| 307 | Cancer | (turn-in only) | Burmecia entrance |
| 308 | Leo | (turn-in only) | Alexandria Castle, Neptune statue |
| 309 | Virgo | Mage Village / Inn | Black Mage Village inn ✓ |
| 310 | Libra | Mdn. Sari / Open Area | Madain Sari, behind the fountain ✓ |
| 311 | Scorpio | Quan’s / Cave | Quan’s Dwelling ✓ |
| 312 | Sagittarius | (turn-in only) | Lindblum Business District |
| 313 | Capricorn | Daguerreo / Entrance | Daguerreo main hall ✓ |
| 314 | Aquarius | I. Castle / Hall | Ipsen’s Castle entrance ✓ |
| 315 | Pisces | Invincible / Core | Invincible, a chest ✓ |
| 316 | Ophiuchus | Quan’s / Cave | Quan’s Dwelling ✓ |
Nine of thirteen have a pickup row in our data. All nine match the published room. Zero mismatches.
And every one of the thirteen also appears at Treno / Queen’s House — the turn-in. Our field data reproduces the entire quest structure without being told what it is: thirteen pickup sites and one receiver.
The four without pickup rows are Cancer, Leo and Sagittarius — behind a wooden box, near a statue, in a plaza. Hidden examine-spots rather than chests, which is consistent with the standing note that a large share of item awards in this game carry a runtime-computed id our reader cannot resolve. A gap we can explain is not a contradiction.
Why this matters beyond the coins
The count-and-location method has now been confirmed at the member level for the first time. We have used it six times — the three potions, the four Elemental Mirrors, the four Coloured Stones, the thirteen Stellazzio, the Knights of Pluto ladder, the jump rope prizes — and every time we published the set and refused to name members, because we had no way to check the ordering.
Zodiac order was a guess. It was a good guess, but it was a guess, and it is now nine-for-nine against an independent source.
That does not retroactively confirm the other sets. The Elemental Mirrors are still four ids and four mirrors with no way to tell which is which. What it confirms is that the game’s id blocks are ordered by an external convention rather than by pickup order — zodiac sequence, not the order a player finds them. That is a rule we can now look for in the other blocks.
The rest of the ship
There is nothing else aboard. Seven screens — three bridge views, the Core, the controls, and our data files the Hilda Garde and Red Rose bridges in the same block, which is how the game keeps its flyable ships together and means nothing for you.
It lands on barren ground, desert, swamp and snow. The Hilda Garde III only managed grass. Forest and mountains remain off limits to everything.
One publisher notes the ship is also involved in a Chocobo treasure at the Shimmering Island ruins on Disc 4, which yields an Invincible card among other things — that belongs to the Chocobo Hot & Cold material and not here.
The Stellazzio ladder, in full
Handed in to Queen Stella in Treno, one reward per coin:
1,000 gil · Phoenix Pinion · 2,000 gil · Blood Sword · 5,000 gil · Elixir · 10,000 gil · Black Belt · 20,000 gil · Rosetta Ring · 30,000 gil · Robe of Lords · Hammer.
The Ophiuchus coin appears at Quan’s Dwelling only after the other twelve are turned in, which is why Quan’s Dwelling shows up twice in the table above and why the quest cannot be finished in one visit.
Game Notes
We have been careful about this one for twenty areas and the caution was correct, which is a slightly uncomfortable thing to write up.
The rule — a count-and-location match names the set, never the members — was not caution for its own sake. It came from a real failure early on, where a plausible ordering turned out to be wrong and we had published it. Since then we have counted ids, matched them to a published set, and stopped.
What broke the deadlock was not better analysis. It was walking into a room with one chest in it. A block of thirteen ids can only be checked member by member, and member-by-member checking needs a place where exactly one id sits in exactly one room that a publisher names precisely. Most rooms in this game have several things in them, or the publisher says “in Treno”.
The Invincible has one chest. Daguerreo’s entrance has one coin. Two rooms like that, in one chapter, and a thirteen-item guess became a nine-for-nine result.
The general version: a decode that cannot be tested in a crowded room can sometimes be tested in an empty one. Worth remembering the next time something goes on the open list because there is no way to check it. There may be a way to check it somewhere else.
