AION 2 crafting calculator: success rate, combo chance and materials

Updated 2026-10-09 · checked against Global launch (client 2.0.5.0)

Every craft in AION 2 is a roll, and a successful one can roll again into something better. This calculator takes one recipe and your proficiency and works out what the rolls cost you: the success chance, the attempts and materials for the number you want, and the combo results you can expect along the way.

          How the success chance works

Each recipe has a proficiency level, and its success chance depends on how far your proficiency is above it:

          • At the recipe’s own level most recipes succeed 68% to 74% of the time; a few simple ones start at 95%.
          • Every level above adds a little, and the chance stops rising somewhere between 91% and 99%, usually 42 to 50 levels above the recipe for Novice recipes and 25 to 49 for Professional ones.
          • Some top-end gear recipes have no proficiency requirement and no rate table; the calculator counts those as always succeeding.

Proficiency runs Novice 1–50, then Professional 1–50, so a Novice 30 recipe crafted at Professional 10 is 30 levels below you. The proficiency guide covers ranking up.

A failed attempt uses the materials. So does getting hit while crafting — the craft fails and the materials are gone — so craft somewhere safe.

          Combo results

296 recipes have a combo: when the craft succeeds, there is a chance it produces something better instead.

          • Gear (Blacksmithing, Armorsmithing, Handicrafting) at 25%: the Splendent version of the piece — an Artisan’s Orichalcum Longsword can come out as an Artisan’s Splendent Orichalcum Longsword.
          • Cooking at 30%: twice the food from one craft.
          • Alchemy at 20–25%: a better stone or twice the potions.

Several Splendent pieces have no recipe of their own — the combo is the only way to make them — and some recipes ask for one as an input. The Professional rank-up item for every gear craft needs an Artisan’s Splendent piece, so the combo is part of the path to the top (how ranking up works). Every recipe page shows its combo, and every combo result’s page lists the recipes that produce it.

          Reading the results

          • Attempts = the crafts you want divided by your success chance — an average. Real runs land either side of it.
          • Materials are per attempt, because a failed attempt spends them too.
          • From scratch expands every crafted input into its own recipe’s inputs, down to gathered and bought materials. It counts one success per input, so add a margin for their own failures. Any gathered material on that list can also come from Odyle of the same grade in Substance Morph — see the gathering guide.
