AION 2 field events: Shugo Festival minigames, Dimensional Invasion and Spacetime Rifts
Updated 2026-10-10 · checked against Global launch (client 2.0.5.0)
AION 2 runs two events in the open world every hour: a Shugo Festival minigame on the hour and a Dimensional Invasion boss on the half hour. Both end in a reward cube, and both pay well for a few minutes’ play — as long as you have a reward key to open it. The countdowns for both are in the timers beside every AION 2 page (below the article on a phone).
The short version:
- Shugo Festival: one of nine minigames every hour, two to five minutes long. 3 reward keys a day, banking up to 12 (21 with the subscription).
- Dimensional Invasion: one of three bosses every hour, ten minutes. 1 reward key a day, banking up to 7.
- A keyed cube pays about 1,200 Enhance Stones, 800 Abyss Points and 3 Soul Codex at level 50, plus a chance at field gear. Spend every key.
- Spacetime Rifts open portals into the other faction’s territory every few hours in Verteron, Altgard, Eltnen and Morheim.
Shugo Festival: the nine minigames
| Minigame | Length | How it plays |
|---|---|---|
| Defend Shugo Merchants | 5 min | Defeat waves of enemies and defend the Shugo Merchants! Using a Petrification Chest will immobilize enemies. Exploding insectoids have low HP, but are immune to petrification and deal heavy damage when they explode, so stay alert! |
| Goldrin's Treasure | 3 min 50 s | Find as many treasure chests as possible within the time limit. Earn points by collecting the treasures inside each chest. Watch for light beams that indicate nearby treasure chest locations. |
| Hidden Lugi | 3 min 30 s | Players are transformed into either a Shugo or a Lugi. Lugi earn points by collecting Odyle Drops, but must avoid being discovered by any Shugo! Shugo must find the disguised Lugi to earn a large number of points. |
| Jump Jump | 2 min 55 s | Dodge the lasers and collect the festival balloons! Earn points for every balloon you collect. Watch out! Touching a laser will cost you points. |
| Mysterious Track | 5 min | Mount your pets and race to the finish line as quickly as possible! Avoid obstacles in your path and outpace your opponents to take the lead. Collect items along the track to gain powerful boosts! |
| Not This Tile? | 3 min 15 s | Test your memory skills. Memorize the colors and paths of the tiles while they are briefly revealed, then locate them again. Your ranking is based on your total score across 8 rounds. |
| Odyle Flight Frenzy | 3 min 30 s | How many points can you earn with your flying skills? Use your flying skills to collect as many Odyle Drops as possible before time runs out. Fly through acceleration rings to boost your speed and restore your Flight Power. |
| Up! Up! Up! | 5 min | You have been transformed into a Gravi and dropped into a special realm of moving platforms. Use your jumping ability to climb ever higher and reach the greatest height possible. Your rank is determined by the checkpoints you reach and the remaining distance to the next checkpoint. Reach the first checkpoint to become eligible for rewards. Keyboard controls are recommended. |
| Wraith Evasion | 5 min | Evade the wraiths and collect Odyle Drops. Getting caught by a wraith will transform you into one, preventing you from collecting Odyle Drops. However, you can break free from wraith form by turning another Daeva into a wraith. |
Every minigame scores you against the others taking part, and every one ends in the same reward cube for your level. Short ones (Jump Jump, Not This Tile?) are the quickest way to spend a key.
Dimensional Invasion
| Invasion | Length | Goal |
|---|---|---|
| Accursed Sword | 10 min | Kill the invading boss |
| Beritra Air Raid | 10 min | Kill the invading boss |
| Incursion of the Spirits | 10 min | Kill the invading boss |
An invasion boss arrives on the half hour and the event lasts ten minutes. Its cube is the same as the festival’s; only the key is different.
What the cubes pay
Both events share one reward table at each level band. At level 50, expected amounts per opening:
| Reward (level 50, expected per opening) | With a reward key | Without a key |
|---|---|---|
| Enhance Stone | 1,200 | 700 |
| Abyss Points | 800 | 400 |
| Centuryroot Token | 40 | 50 |
| Soul Codex (Bound) | 3 | — |
| Seed of Detection | 0.30 | — |
| Refining Stone | — | 1.8 |
| Odyle | — | 1.7 |
| Fine Odyle | — | 0.56 |
| Pure Odyle | — | 0.19 |
| Expert's Refining Stone | — | 0.18 |
| Resurrection Spiritstone (Bound) | — | 0.10 |
| Radiant Odyle | — | 0.06 |
| Artisan's Refining Stone | — | 0.02 |
| Artisan's Ultimate Refining Stone | — | 0.01 |
| A piece of field gear | 1.1 | 1.3 |
The reward key column is what the cube pays when you open it with a key; the other column is its standard reward. Keys refill daily at the reset: 3 Shugo Festival Reward Keys (up to 12 banked, 21 with the subscription) and 1 Dimensional Invasion Reward Key (up to 7). Three festival keys and one invasion key a day is about 4,800 Enhance Stones, 3,200 Abyss Points and 12 Soul Codex — see the Enhance Stone guide for how that compares.
Spacetime Rifts
Spacetime Rifts are portals into the enemy faction’s region. They open in Verteron, Altgard, Eltnen and Morheim every three hours, starting at midnight server time (UTC+9): 00:00, 03:00, 06:00 and so on. The timer bar at the top of the page counts down to the next one in your own time zone. Most stay open for ten minutes. Each zone map shows the spots where a rift can appear (the rift layer).
Time on the other side is rationed by Spacetime Rift Usage Time, which refills weekly.
Common mistakes
- Sitting on full keys. Festival keys stop refilling at 12 and invasion keys at 7; a full bank is a lost day.
- Skipping the invasion. It is one key a day, but the same cube as the festival.
- Choosing minigames by reward. They all pay from the same reward table; pick the one you are best at.
Our read
Treat the two events as a daily chore worth a few thousand Enhance Stones: log in for one festival minigame and one invasion a day, spend the keys, and let the bank absorb the days you miss. The minigames are short enough to fit between dungeon runs, and the invasion is a world boss with a guaranteed payout.
