Level 3 is the cap. Each pet you raise also feeds Fera Genus Insight.
Where its souls come from
Every Papis soul you pick up counts towards it — they drop as Soul: Papis (Bound). Souls drop less often once you out-level a monster and its name turns grey, so farm them while the monster is still at your level.
