Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster · FFX walkthrough
S.S. Winno
Story mode. Written for a first playthrough and kept free of spoilers — it will not tell you what happens here, only what the game is asking of you.
No fiends on this boat. It is a breather, and it has three small things on it.
The passenger quarters
You start below deck with the team. There is a chest behind the Aurochs at the back of the room — a Hi-Potion.
The merchant from the last boat is here again, with a shop. Talk to him a few times and he asks to borrow money. Lend him what you can comfortably spare. Everything you lend adds up, and the total decides how he treats you when you meet him further down the road.
There is a Save Sphere down here. Use it before you go up.
The deck and the bridge
The second door along the deck opens onto the bridge. An Al Bhed Primer lies on the carpet right behind the helmsman — it is easy to miss in the dark.
Walk to the stern for a scene with Yuna, talk to her afterwards, then go up the stairs to the upper deck to listen in on Lulu and Wakka. Going up and down a few more times gives you a little more of their conversation.
The ball on the deck
A blitzball sits at the front of the deck. Walk up to it.
After a short scene you get a practice round, then the real thing: a series of lines appears on screen, and for each one you press the confirm button with the matching direction. Get it right and Tidus learns a signature shot he can use in every blitzball match from now on, including the one you are about to play.
You only get one try on this crossing, so save first and reload if you miss. When you are done, talk to Yuna and rest; the boat docks in the morning.
Worth doing on a first run

Spoilers from here.
The crossing to Luca is short and fight-free. Two things on it are time-limited and both are cheap to get right: Al Bhed Primer Vol. V on the bridge, and the Jecht Shot, which you get one try at before Luca.
What docking at Luca closes
- Al Bhed Primer Vol. V (this copy). If you miss it, a replacement appears in the Sanubia Desert near where Kimahri is found. It is a safety net, not a plan — the desert is a long way off and easy to rush.
- The first Jecht Shot attempt, and with it the Striker achievement for now. A later crossing can give you another go, but sources do not agree on that, so treat this as your chance.
Passenger quarters
Hi-Potion in the chest half-hidden behind the Besaid Aurochs. Dona and Barthello are in here too; nothing to gain from them.
O’aka XXIII is aboard with a shop and his second loan request. Lending is cumulative across every meeting until the Mi’ihen Highroad, and the running total sets his prices at Macalania and after. A total of 10,001 gil or more gets you a discount; a small total gets you a markup. You will not have 10,000 to spare yet — lend what you can and top it up in Luca and on the Highroad.
Save at the Save Sphere before you go up top.
Deck and bridge
The bridge is through the second door on the deck. Primer Vol. V lies on the green carpet directly behind the helmsman.
At the stern, the Luca Goers stop by to sneer at Tidus and Yuna; talk to Yuna once they leave. Then climb to the upper deck to overhear Lulu and Wakka talking about Tidus — and about Chappu. Repeat trips up the stairs add a few optional lines.
The Jecht Shot
The ball sits at the front of the deck. A flashback of Jecht shows off the move, then you get a practice round and the real attempt. Jecht’s taunts appear on screen one at a time; for each, press confirm with the matching direction.
Land it and Tidus can use the Jecht Shot in every blitzball match from now on. It knocks two defenders out of the way of the shot, which matters in the tournament final. The Striker achievement unlocks at the same moment.
Fail and the game moves on without comment. Reload and try again — you do not get another try before Luca.
Yuna then mentions she saw Sir Jecht do the same move. Talk to her, rest, and you dock at Luca in the morning.
Later crossings
One thing on this ferry is not there yet:
- Ace Wizard. On a later ride from Kilika to Luca, a man on the upper deck asks how many seagulls are circling the ship. Count from every view of the deck: 11. The prize is Wakka’s Ace Wizard, with Magic +3%, +5%, +10% and +20%. When the question first appears is argued over — some say once you have the airship, some say earlier — so ask whenever you are aboard.
The boat Jecht Sphere is not on this ship: it turns up later in the S.S. Liki’s captain’s room, on the Kilika–Besaid leg, and is covered on that ship’s page.
