Every Ending in Final Fantasy X-2
Updated 2026-10-10
Full spoilers.
Final Fantasy X-2 has one ending that always plays and two layers you can add on top of it. Both layers are decided in the last few minutes by two prompts that the game never tells you about, plus your Story Completion.
The endings at a glance
| Ending | What you see | What it takes |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | The closing scenes on the Farplane and in Spira. Yuna’s story ends without Tidus. | Beat the final boss. |
| Good | Tidus returns: the reunion on Besaid after the credits. | Press the button in the flower field, then answer “Yes!” to the fayth. See the Chapter 3 conditions below. |
| Perfect | The Good Ending plus one more short scene of Yuna and Tidus after the credits, before your game statistics. | Everything for the Good Ending, at 100% Story Completion. |
| Bad | Vegnagun fires. Game over. | Take too long in the last stage of the Vegnagun fight. |
The Normal Ending plays in every case; the others are added to it.
The two prompts
- The flower field. After the “Chapter 5 Complete!” screen, the Gullwings walk through a field of flowers. Press the confirm button here. If you watch without pressing, the scene ends and you get the Normal Ending only.
- The fayth’s question. Pressing brings a fayth, who asks Yuna if she wants to see him again. Answer “Yes!” The other answer (“It’s better this way”) gives a quieter version without the reunion.
Save before the final portal and keep that save. If you miss a prompt, you can replay the last battles from it.
The Chapter 3 conditions
These are the part of the Good Ending that players argue about. Do both and the argument does not matter:
- Maechen in Chateau Leblanc (Chapter 3). Talk to him in Logos’s room, choose “Please, go on” and let him finish every line.
- The four whistles (end of Chapter 3). In the scene after the Djose mission, when Yuna says she is all alone, keep tapping the confirm button until you have heard four whistles.
Some players report the Good Ending with neither, and only a high Story Completion (75% and 90% are both quoted). Others report the two prompts at the end as the whole requirement. A run that does the Chapter 3 steps, presses in the flower field and answers “Yes!” gets the Good Ending under every version of the rule.
The Perfect Ending
100% Story Completion. Nothing else on top of the Good Ending’s steps. That means:
- The Youth League route. Giving the Awesome Sphere to New Yevon at the start of Chapter 2 caps a single run below 100%.
- The moogle on Dock 2 in the opening chase, and every other scene the Story Completion guide lists.
- 96% on the save before the portal; the last battles add the final 4%.
Sweet Perfection unlocks the moment the file reaches 100%, during the final sequence.
The Bad Ending
In the last stage of the Vegnagun fight, Shuyin keeps talking. On his seventh line Vegnagun fires and the game ends. There is normally plenty of time. Don’t stall, don’t spend turns on buffs you do not need, and kill the Redoubts quickly. On PC the game autosaves around this fight, so a loss here can overwrite your autosave; your manual save before the portal is what protects you.
New Game Plus
After the credits the game offers a clear save. Loading it from the title screen starts New Game Plus.
Carries over:
- Every dressphere and every learned ability.
- Garment grids, items and accessories.
- Gil, and O’aka’s debt status.
- Story Completion. A scene seen in one run still counts in the next.
- Fiend Arena tournament progress.
- Your best Gunner’s Gauntlet score (so a new run has to beat it to win anything).
Starts again:
- Episode results, the Via Infinito, and the chocobo-only dungeons.
- Sphere Break coins, which are simply lost. Sell them before the clear save.
- The Calm Lands Publicity and Marriage campaigns.
- The Experiment’s levels and the Thunder Plains tower scores.
- Clasko’s stock of greens. Hand them to Yuna before the clear save.
Using New Game Plus for 100%: if your first run missed a scene, play through again and pick up only what you missed. Because the percentage carries over, the second run can finish at 100% and gives you the Perfect Ending and Sweet Perfection. It is also how a New Yevon run reaches 100%: the Youth League scenes have to come from the other playthrough.
Using New Game Plus for dresspheres: a dressphere you missed (Berserker, Trainer, Mascot) can be picked up on the second run, and everything you already own is there from the start.
